Episode Ten

In the pot, the brew sparkles gold with a hint of tomato, then fizzes purple, shooting a fine mist into the air that teases the Keeper's nose.

"Ah ah AH - whew." Sniffling, the Keeper gives his head a jiggle to shake off a soft buzzing in his ears. He feels strangely agitated, as he often does before a storm.

"I must hurry."

He brushes his fingertips gently over the book. "Almost done, almost done. A few more ingredients, then our world's future will be secure, my young one. You will...."

A tremor rolls through the book's smooth cover. The Keeper draws his fingers away as if burned. The room vibrates, a smooth hum at first, oddly unpleasant.

"What...?"
